Volvo Repair & Service in Longview, WA

Volvos have been a common sight in the Pacific Northwest for decades. Around Cowlitz County you'll still spot older wagons parked next to brand-new XC90s, and we work on both. Drivers from Longview, Kelso, and Rainier count on Art's Automotive to keep their Volvos dependable through wet winters and long highway trips.

Trustworthy Volvo Repair

We service the XC40, XC60, XC70, XC90, S60, S80, S90, V60, V70, and V90, along with older models like the 850 and 240. Our team knows the five-cylinder engines found in many Volvos from the 1990s through the mid-2010s, as well as the newer Drive-E four-cylinders.

Volvo-capable diagnostics let us read module faults and run system tests, which matters on cars with this much safety technology. When something triggers a warning on the dash, our auto electrical repair team tracks it to the source.

Does my Volvo have a timing belt?

Most Volvos with the five-cylinder engine use a timing belt, and the recommended interval for many of them is around 105,000 miles or 10 years, whichever comes first. Some newer engines use belts too, with their own schedule. Since these are interference engines, a snapped belt can mean major engine damage. Our timing belt replacement includes the tensioner and idler pulleys.

Why is oil leaking from my older Volvo?

On older five-cylinder Volvos, a clogged PCV system builds pressure inside the engine and pushes oil past seals and gaskets. Replacing only the leaking seal usually doesn't last long. We clean or replace the PCV components first, then repair the leaks so they stay fixed.

What maintenance does Volvo AWD need?

Volvo AWD models use an angle gear up front and a Haldex coupling in the rear, and both depend on clean fluid to work properly. Many Haldex units also have a filter that should be replaced at fluid service time. If you see an AWD warning or feel the car bind up in tight turns, call (360) 423-0890 and we'll check it out.
